Lynda BritchfordLynda Britchford – Confidential Trauma Counselling
Hello, Im Lynda.
Are you struggling to cope after traumatic experiences, or historical trauma? I can provide you with a safe and confidential space, supporting you to reduce your distress, and gain some coping strategies. I have been described as compassionate, kind, gentle – and safe, with good therapeutic boundaries. I can provide a safe and containing space for you to process your experiences. Resolving difficulties in counselling can be life changing, and enable you to move on to a happier, more fulfilling life.
I support MenCASA in reaching out to men who have experienced domestic violence or abuse, and will honour your individuality and experience.
If it helps to know a little about me and my background, I am a qualified nurse, and have many years experience in supporting people who have poor mental health, and who have experienced significant trauma in their lives and relationships.
I have also experienced my own journey through therapy, and know first hand how powerful and positive it can be. I continue to feel incredibly privileged that the people who come to see me for therapy, trust me at times of immense personal distress, with their thoughts, feelings and memories. Trust, and integrity are very important to me, and I am strongly committed to offering you an honest, respectful, safe and confidential relationship in which we can work together.
My fees are as follows: 60mins £40, 90mins £60, 2hrs £80. I am flexible with my session lengths, as individual needs vary. Some people find more benefit from longer sessions, whether that is weekly or fortnightly, and I am happy to work with your preference.
A little about my professional background..
For 14 years I worked as a qualified nurse (RN) supporting adults and children with learning disabilities and mental health issues, many of whom experienced historical or current trauma in relationships. I have a DipHE (Nursing), from the University of East Anglia.
I have an Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I have a Foundation Certificate in Transactional Analysis, from the Berne Institute. In September 2018 I begin my journey to gaining a Masters Degree in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.
I am currently studying for a Certificate in working with Children and Young People, at the Berne Institute.
My ongoing continued professional development has been focussed on trauma, distress and dissociation. This has included ‘Making Trauma Therapy Safer’ (Babette Rothschild) and training provided by PODS (Working with Dissociative Disorders in Clinical Practice, & Self Harm and Suicide – Dealing With Distress).
* As an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, I abide by their code of practice. I have regular supervision, and have appropriate professional insurance.
