Info for therapists

MenCASA is a network of gender-inclusive counsellors offering support to primarily men or those who identify as male, and who have been victims of domestic abuse or violence, or false accusation.

counselling, counsellor, therapy session gender inclusive

We welcome interest from counsellors and psychotherapists who may wish to join our nationwide network of therapists.  Our associate counsellors offer a safe space to clients who are victims of DA, IPV or false accusation (of abuse or rape/sexual assault) and who identify as male or of a gender unable to effectively access services currently aimed for use only by women.

  • All of our associate counsellors must operate from a gender-inclusive approach.  We welcome therapists of any gender to join us as associate counsellors.
  • Our associate counsellors are in Private Practice, are self-employed or are agencies/organisations.  You set your prices.  Clients self-refer.  We don’t take anything from your fee or insist on any discounts.  If you operate a sliding scale for fees or concessions for low income that is welcome but not required.  We support the notion that counsellors should be fairly paid for their work.
  • We invite all of our associate counsellors to contribute to qualitative and quantitative research conducted by MenCASA and other agreed organisations to support our work and help improve the services offered to male victims.  This may include inviting your clients to take part in anonymous research upon their full consent.
  • Our associate counsellors will have access to training / CPD / supervision opportunities offered by MenCASA and we hope to offer discounts to training by some other providers.  We are currently developing an online training programme to support counsellors in this work.

If you are a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist, a member of an accredited register with the Professional Standards Authority, and you would like to apply to be included in our directory of associate counsellors/psychotherapists please do register and add a directory entry.  You will be required to electronically sign an agreement to show your commitment to working from a gender-inclusive approach and to work according to our terms and conditions.  All directory entries are reviewed before being accepted.
